It’s only been a couple of weeks and Shelby has changed so much!
EATING:
Shelby is now eating more and more real food and she has tried the baby meats. Alone, she hated them, she made the worst faces, and actually gagged! It was quite funny! However, if I give her one of the mixes (i.e. vegetable beef, or chicken and rice) she does like those. We have started giving her YO BABY yogurt and she loves those!!! She has had real food now and then including a couple pieces of pasta, potatoes, fruit, and crackers…..she really learns a lot on how to eat at daycare and watching the other babies. Also, she has a slight addiction to PUFFS! Let’s just call them “baby crack”…she loves these things. If she is fussy at all, I can just throw a few of these on her high chair tray and she calms down and is quiet as she stuffs these in her mouth (she usually gets 1 out of 4 actually in her mouth)
ON THE MOVE:
She is crawling EVERYWHERE now and is constantly getting into things she shouldn’t. She has a ton of toys, but completely ignores them and goes for the computer cords, daddy’s shoes, remote controls, and phones. She likes crawling underneath her jumperoo or trying to use it to pull up and she usually falls and hits her head. She is opening drawers, and pulling up on all the furniture. She recently learned to stand up in her pack-n-play (or baby jail as Cale puts it) and her crib. She is getting daring and it is resulting in a few boo-boos. She is also clapping, sometimes waving bye-bye and starting to master “so big”! She is so darn cute!
SLEEP:
We still have not resolved all the sleep issues. After a few weeks of failed attempts of the Ferber method (aka Cry it out (CIO)), we finally are holding our ground and going through it this week, which basically means we put her to bed and let her cry herself to sleep. According to the doctors and many other mothers I have asked, this really works….she needs to learn how to put herself to sleep. Basically, I’m kicking myself for not doing this 2 months ago, because now she can crawl, stand and move around in her crib which is making it more difficult.
First night, it took 16 minutes for her to get to sleep, but she slept until 5:30 and last night (Night 2) she cried for 21 minutes and woke up once at 3:00 and then again at 6:30. Hopefully night 3 will go better. Cale & I can’t take this much longer. There were 2 nights last week where we got less than 4 hours of sleep.
FUN:
Shelby went to the zoo on Oct. 21 with her friend Jenna. A great time was had by all on a rare 75 degree October day! Can’t wait to do it next year! Shelby also had a great first Halloween. She dressed up as a lady bug and even though she hated getting in/out of the costume for all of her visits, she had a great night. She got a toy, an outfit, and lots of puffs!!! She even went trick or treating for a little while with Uncle Trevor, although he kept the candy!!
I will try to post some pics from the last couple of weeks!
Shelby leaves for her first cruise in 11 days!!!
